Concerts
Farmata concerts feature the highest level of classical music thoughtfully paired with food and drink that is raised and grown on our farm or by local partners. The concerts are intimate, with room only for 15-20 audience members, and each are unique.
Most of the concerts - at least for now - will feature cellist and Farmata founder Steuart Pincombe. Steuart is recognized worldwide as one of the leading cellists of his generation and has performed as a sought-after soloist in renowned concert halls across Europe and North America. He stepped back from his busy concert career to start a small farm in his hometown of Fair Grove, Missouri and now looks forward to sharing music with you in his barn.

Each concert will be different. Typically the evening begins with a light refreshment - an elderflower cordial or some sparkling cider. Next we'll settle in for some music. Each concert program is carefully designed to bring the listener on a journey and bring context to what they are hearing.
At some point - maybe halfway through the concert - we'll have some food (usually not a full meal). We'll offer a sample of things we grew or made, and often the food or drink will draw some connection with the concert program.
Sometimes, depending on the timing, we might all take a pause and step outside to watch the sunset, or look at the stars.

Farmata does not have a professional kitchen and we are unable to accommodate any serious allergies. If you have a dietary restriction such as gluten or daily intolerance, please let us know at the time of booking and we will do our best to have a suitable option for you.

The concert space in the barn can be accessed by a wheelchair with some assistance (there are no steps, but there are bumps). The outdoor toilet, however, is quite small and cannot fit a wheelchair. If you have more questions about this, please contact us.

There is a restroom in the barn with a composting toilet and sink.
We have been using a compost toilet in our off-grid home for nearly 7 years and promise that it's not as scary as it seems. It’s actually a wonderful way to give what is often considered “waste” back to the earth.

Currently growing at Farmata are many native fruit trees and bushes such as blackberries, mulberries, persimmons, elderberries, gooseberries and pears (many of our pear trees were grafted). We also have apple and cherry trees, along with a full vegetable garden in the summer. We raise hogs for pork and trade the meat with friends who raise other animals in a like-minded way.

Children are welcome to attend, they should be of the age that they can focus and be quiet as well as adults.
Since space is very limited, most of the concerts will not have discounted children’s tickets (i.e. children will pay full price). However, we plan to host periodic children’s concerts and these concerts will have very low ticket prices. The children’s concerts will also feature shorter programs designed specifically to engage younger minds.
Support the concert series at Farmata:
We need your help to build the concert series at Farmata! Here are a couple of ways you can support:
Sponsor a ticket. If you can’t make it to a concert but would like to show your support, please consider buying a ticket or two for someone who may not be able to afford one. Simply purchase a ticket and let us know that you are donating it.
Sponsor a musician. We are excited to have some fantastic musicians interested in coming to play at Farmata. Ticket sales cover only a portion of the cost to bring in another musician (their travel costs and fee). We need to raise an additional $1,000 - $1,500 per musician. If you are interested in contributing, please send us an email.
